John Day Selected to Serve As Secretary of The American College of Trial Lawyers
(October 26th, 2022 - Nashville, TN) The American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), one of the premier professional organizations comprised of preeminent trial lawyers from the U.S. and Canada, has installed John A. Day of The Law Offices of John Day, P.C. as its Secretary.
Mr. Day was installed as Secretary at the College’s 2022 Annual Meeting in Rome, Italy. A total of 769 Fellows and guests from across North America and Canada gathered in Rome to also induct 48 new Fellows and to discuss issues important to the profession.
“Other than being admitted to Fellowship in the College in 2002, the opportunity to serve the College as Secretary is my greatest professional honor,” said Mr. Day. “The College works daily to promote the importance of the rule of law, a cornerstone of both our democracy and economic system. Our nation’s future depends on adherence to the rule of law and access to justice.”
Mr. Day is a 1978 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and 1981 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He has practiced law in Tennessee since 1981, starting a firm now known as the Law Offices of John Day, P.C. in January 1993.
Mr. Day has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 1993 in the following categories: Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs, Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs, Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs, Commercial Litigation, and Bet-the-Company Litigation.
He has served as a leader in numerous state and national organizations. He has authored or co-authored four books, has had over sixty articles published, and has given over 300 speeches to bar association groups across the country.
During this year’s meeting in Rome, he College elected the following Officers who will serve until the 2023 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California: President-Elect William J. Murphy of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP (Baltimore, MD); Treasurer Richard H. Deane, Jr. of Jones Day (Atlanta, GA); and Michael L. O’Donnell of Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP (Denver, CO) as Immediate Past President. The College also elected four new members to its Board of Regents. The new Regents, who join 11 existing Regents, are William P. Keane of Farella Braun + Martel (San Francisco, CA), Gregory K. Wells of Shadoan, Michael & Wells, LLP (Rockville, MD), Richard M. Strassberg of Goodwin Procter (New York, NY), and Bernard Amyot, Ad. E. of LCM Attorneys Inc. (Montreal, QC).
