“Little by little, a little became a lot”Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County
The Law Offices of John Day, P.C. wants every child to acquire the skills necessary to becoming a productive, successful and healthy adult, and so we are proud to sponsor the Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County. The Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County focuses on three important aspects of a child’s development: academic success, character & leadership and healthy lifestyles.
Academic Success -- While the Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County has programs you might expect like tutoring, homework assistance and, STEM, art and literacy classes, it also offers more nuanced, but just as important, classes on subjects such as financial literacy, career and workforce preparation sessions and college exploration which involves helping teens understand the necessary requirements for college and finding a college that is a good fit for them and their academic pursuits.
Character & Leadership – To state the obvious, children are our future, and we must teach them the importance of good character, leadership and responsible citizenship. Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County has three programs that seek to instill these qualities in our area youth: The Keystone Club, the Torch Club and Youth for Unity. These clubs broaden children’s awareness and growth in academic success, combating discrimination and prejudice, service to community and character development.
Healthy Lifestyles – The Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County strives to teach children about the benefits of exercise, the importance of balanced nutrition and meal preparation, the dangers of drug and alcohol use, positive body images and successfully navigating social pressures and interaction.
