Wayne County Judges and Court Information
If suit must be filed to protect your rights, Wayne County is located in the 22nd Judicial District for the State of Tennessee, which also includes Giles, Lawrence and Maury counties. The following individuals preside over civil cases in the 22nd Judicial District:
A copy of the Wayne County Local Rules can be reviewed here. These rules govern the day to day operations of the court and such things as the issuance of subpoenas, setting cases for trial, exhibits, etc.
In Wayne County, in 2010-2011, only 7 tort cases (a case alleging personal injury or wrongful death) and not a single tort case was tried to a judge or jury. For the 2011-2012 reporting period, only 5 tort cases were filed. Again, there was not a single tort case tried in the county for that time frame. For 2012-2013, only 1 tort case was filed and, for the third year in a row, zero tort cases were tried. In 2013-2014, Wayne County did not have a single tort case filed or tried. And the same was true for 2014-2015 and again in 2015-2016. For 2016-2017, only 1 injury/death case was filed for the entire county, and one was tried (non-jury). The injury victim lost that trial. In 2017-2018, there were zero injury or death cases filed and none tried. Finally, last year, 1 injury/death case was filed but none were tried. The last year referenced for this data is the 2018-2019 reporting period.
