In Robertson County, for the 2011-2012 reporting period, there were 81 tort cases (claims for personal injury or wrongful death) filed and only 2 went to trial. In both those cases, the injured party won but the average award was only $8,585.00. In 2012-2013, 91 tort cases were filed in Robertson County and 2 tort cases were tried. The injured party lost both of those trials. For the 2013-2014 reporting period, 62 tort cases were filed and 3 went to trial. Unfortunately, the injured party did not win any of those trials. In 2014-2015, 73 tort cases were filed but not a single one was actually tried. In 2015-2016, 83 cases were filed, but none went to court or were awarded any damages. During 2016-2017, 92 injury or death cases were filed and one was tried, but the injury victim lost that case. In 2017-2018, 80 injury or death cases were filed and 2 were tried. The average verdict was $215,389. Last year, 127 tort cases were filed and 2 were tried. The injury victims won those trials but the average award went down substantially to $14,344.
