In fact, motorcycle riders are 29% more likely to die in an accident and four times more likely to be injured as compared to drivers of cars and trucks. The injury patterns, in order of frequency, tend to be as follows with some victims having more than one type of injury:

• 47%, or almost half, of motorcycle crashes result in lower extremity injuries.
  
• 40% result in upper extremity injuries.
  
• 35% of motorcyclists will sustain a head injury.
  
• 31% of motorcycle wrecks will cause chest injuries.
  
• 20% of motorcyclists will sustain spinal injuries.
  
• 15% of motorcycle accidents will cause abdominal injuries.
• 10% of motorcycle crashes will cause facial injuries.
