Will I Have To Go To Court?
Most cases are settled, but if suit must be filed to protect your rights, Bledsoe County is located in the 12th Judicial District which also includes Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Rhea and Sequatchie counties. The judges who preside over civil cases in the 12th Judicial District are:
The 12th Judicial District has published Local Rules which control the day to day procedures of the Court including such things as setting cases for trial, exhibits, dispositive motions, etc. The Local Rules can be reviewedhere.
For the 2018-2019 reporting period, only 10 tort cases were filed in Bledsoe County. Tort cases are claims for personal injury or wrongful death. There were zero jury trials involving tort claims in Bledsoe County during that time frame. This is similar to the date from years past, which is set forth below. The last year referenced for this data is the 2018-2019 reporting period.
For the 2010-2011 reporting period, three tort cases (cases involving claims for personal injury or wrongful death) were filed in Bledsoe County. Only one case went to trial during that period and it did not result in a verdict for the injured party. For the 2011-2012 reporting period, eight tort cases were filed in Bledsoe County but zero cases went to trial. For 2012-2013, 15 tort cases were filed but none went to trial. The 2013-2014 was much the same: 9 tort cases were filed and again none went to trial. For 2015-2016, 7 tort cases were filed. While 2 of those cases went to trial, the injured party lost both of them. For 2016-2017, eight tort cases were filed and none went to trial.
