Do You Handle Car Accident Cases in Bedford County?
Not surprisingly, a large part of our practice is auto accidents including motorcycle accidents, tractor-trailer wrecks, car accidents, car vs. pedestrian cases and car v. bicycle cases. The Tennessee Department of Safety collects data on each county's crash statistics, and Bedford County ranked 18th in the overall crash rate for 2021. For fatal accidents, Bedford County was 33rd and for injury accidents the county ranked 22nd. While we all know alcohol plays a significant role in crashes, drivers traveling in Bedford County continue combine drinking and driving at an alarming rate. For alcohol-impaired crashes, Bedford County ranked 3rd in the State with 73 accidents attributed to alcohol. Bedford County had 21 motorcycle crashes making it 33rd in the State and for speed-related crashes Bedford County was 14th in the State.

The injury victim lost all three cases. For 2017-2018, there were 51 tort cases filed and 3 tried (all non-jury) and zero wins for injury victims. For 2016-2017, there were 52 tort cases tried and 13 non-jury trials. Again, there was not a single win for injury victims. For 2015-2016, there were 48 tort cases filed, 12 non-jury trials and zero victories for injury victims. The last year referenced for this data is the 2018-2019 reporting period.
